The bonds forged among the community of counselors and staff at Deerwood last a lifetime. While the job is quite demanding, many former counselors say their summers working at Deerwood were the best summers of their lives.
Though many staff have been at Deerwood for several years (and many attended as campers), we do hire a handful of brand new counselors each summer, especially those who are college-aged. If you are enthusiastic, patient, energetic and love working with kids, a position as a Deerwood counselor may be right up your alley.

Experience, skills or qualifications in one of our activities are a plus, though we are most interested in the type of person you are and your ability to relate well with a group of children as well as your peers.

 

Summer jobs are also available in the kitchen and maintenance areas. In these roles, staff members are not working as closely with the campers, and almost all evenings are free as cabin supervision is not required.
