Philosophy

Camp Deerwood is a place where boys have fun. With emphasis on building character and friendships along with new skills, boys enjoy a healthy outdoor summer experience. Campers make their own activity choices and are encouraged to challenge themselves and master skills in a variety of areas.

 
Cheerfulness, cooperation and consideration of others are stressed (and evaluated in progress reports) as campers negotiate the challenges of living, playing, learning and working together as a group.
Through just the right combination of structure and freedom, campers learn to be responsible and gain confidence. In an “unplugged,” natural environment, TVs, cell phones and i-pods are hardly missed as the boys engage in planned and spontaneous activities supervised by caring and energetic counselors. Deerwood gives a boy a summer of adventure and a lifetime of memories.
