Facilities

Camp Deerwood is situated on a hill above the shores of Squam Lake, offering unparalleled views of the lake and White Mountains. The camp's waterfront consists of 1,600 feet of unspoiled shoreline, lending easy access to the crystal-clear waters of Squam.

Over 50 islands and numerous coves are just a paddle away and many of New Hampshire's 4000-foot peaks are within an hour's drive. The camp is just two hours from Boston and only 1 hour from Manchester's expanded airport. Excellent hospitals are also very accessible in the nearby towns of Plymouth (9 miles) and Laconia (12 miles).
The facilities at Deerwood are comfortable and well maintained. Campers and counselors live in fully enclosed cabins with indoor bathrooms and screened windows.
The main lodge (“Ty”), dining room (“Toots Shor”) and Stone Building (our theater for dramatics and Saturday evening movies) are unique gathering spaces large enough for the whole camp…and date back to the late 19 th century.

The Deerwood waterfront utilizes over 10 sailboats, 24 canoes, 18 kayaks, 8 sail-boards, and one tournament waterskiing boat. The 12-foot diving tower with waterslide and the “wrestle raft” are popular places at the waterfront during general swim times.
Tennis is played on 4 red clay courts while other sports are enjoyed on the full-sized game fields or the basketball, volleyball and badminton courts. The crafts building consists of one large woodworking shop, two blacksmith forges , a wheel and kiln for ceramics and a complete photography lab.

The low ropes challenge course is used most during orientation periods and the miles of trails within Deerwood's property are enjoyed throughout the summer, especially by our mountain bikers. Deerwood's infirmary , staffed by a registered nurse, has a comfortable living room with fireplace, a screened porch and a quiet bunk room for campers who need to recuperate.
